This is a workshop designed to help young people identify and understand the broad range of their feelings and positive tools for working with them. We will focus on feeling, beginning with physical/sensory input and working up to exploring the gamut of emotions and how they often feel in the body through games, art and pictures. There will be a guided meditation where the children will use their imaginations to "feel" the various sensory input described during a fun adventure and then progress to a special place that they create and fill with good feelings. We will end the day sharing about the kinds of activities, places and experiences that create good feeling for each child from the inside out. The day will consist of an opening circle/introduction with pictures and discussion, art project, lunch, meditation, journaling and closing circle.

This is a workshop designed to facilitate young people's ability to express themselves. A companion class to “Feelin' It!”, this day focuses on learning how to translate feelings and experiences through writing, spoken communication and art. We will practice the art of authentic dialogue and articulating feelings and then explore communicating through art, music and writing. In these exercises the children will be guided to artfully communicate from the heart not just for themselves but with the intention of sharing with others. Each child will have the opportunity to choose an art form which they are most drawn to, whether writing a story, a song or using visual arts to communicate something that is important to them. The meditation will focus on connecting with the imagination and unique creativity of each child. The day will consist of an opening circle, art project, lunch, meditation, journaling and closing circle.

The meditation will be an inner exploration following each child's passion to its source. Many treasures will be discovered and much fun along the way! CAMPS:
Inner Discovery Camp for Kids
Art, Movement, Meditation and Journaling
The day camps are a wonderful oppportunity for your child to explore in greater depth his or her inner life through the creation of sacred art, movement, meditation and journaling. Each week is structured around the idea of a treasure hunt with every activity allowing the child to discover an inner treasure. By the end of the week, your child will have discovered many hidden gems and have some mementos to take home from the journey. Each day will begin with an opening circle followed by some form of movement and play, art project, lunchtime/free play, meditation, journaling, snack and closing circle.
Each child has unique vision and artistry that often needs very little other than the space, time and encouragement to reveal itself. Through solitary contemplation and group activities, each child will have the opportunity for new experiences and inner exploration. Deep connection can be revitalizing so there will also be plenty of opportunity for exercise, laughter and fun!

All classes and camps are non-denominational and are not affiliated with any other group or method. They are not group therapy, but they can be a helpful accompaniment to children and families doing personal work in therapy. When witnessing or assisting a child, I feel that it is important to do so without judgement and preconceived ideas of what they may discover and therefore do not impose “wrong” or “right” answers or techniques in my classes. Each child is unique and so discovery will unfold in a way that is uniquely and perfectly his or her own.
